Bangalore Attack

Quite true that Bangalore is always a hideout for most terrorists after an attack, but attack here is really a shocking news. The worst part is the target. Attacking an educational institute is unbearable, that too of high calibred institute. Atleast from now, the administrative people should provide a reliable security for the reputed institutes. Losing a professor is as bad as losing some good number of engineers.

Can't we live good

Today on my way to office, police blocked a U-turn in the airport road and so I have to travel to next junction where I can take a U-turn. There people taking U-turn started to amass at left side blocking people going straight. I decided to move only in the lane supposed to used for right or U-turn as I want to be an example for corrective traffic. I had a fellowship here. But finally I end up in waiting for nearly 25 minutes before taking the U-turn.

During this I realised that most of the two-wheelers behind us waiting patiently and they are ready to do when someone doing so. The one who started to hurry up to the left where mostly of the cab drivers and the autowalas. I think we need to educate them more in the traffic sense.

Is there any way to educate them?.

Aaru - An unwanted movie for Surya

Yesterday we went for the movie 'Aaru' (tamil movie). The lead role was done by Surya (known for his good acting skills). The movie was really a violent movie with known twists and incidents. Not sure why Surya accepted to act in such a kind of movie. Not so good movie to watch.

The act of renaming the cities

Recently the politicians of India are down with the fever of renaming the city. They claim its because they want to preserve the culture of the people living there. If you go back to see when and why these renaming started, it all happened to fit into the tougue flexing capabilities of the people in power during the colonial rule.
Yes I do agree that the culture needs to be preserved but does the name change help that. There are lot other ways to preserve it by providing proper monetary backup, support for the people who get involved in literature and culture.
I don't see any people of the cities getting neurotic on calling Calcutta or Madras or Bombay.
Recently the name change for Bangalore hits the newspaper headlines. They may point out Mumbai and other cities as example and are they ready to take those cities as examples in other fields too?.

A few good men

Last night I was very much impressed with the Bangalore police. We were returning home from the night show (1:30 am) and were waiting near the Tavarakere junction for a friend. Going some months back, lot of robbery incidents occurred there. But the situations now there was really very good. We saw around 2 patrol vehicles (2 wheeler) within 3 minutes span and those policemen asked us about the reason for waiting. Once informed they left the scene. Once started off from there, we were again encountered by another pair of policemen who check-out for our vehicle documents.

The most important notable thing is, all the policemen were very polite and very friendly in the manner they enquired us.

I won't say its not possible for a robbery in that place, but the frequency will be less and people can travel without any fear.

Hope to see these kind of activity from the police in all places of Bangalore to make it a safe place to live.

Are ATMs safe enough

It was around 9:30 in the night yesterday and and me on the way to Citibank ATM in BTM layout was taken by surprise with the crowd at ATM. After waiting for few minutes, I realized that the crowd was watching the cricket match(India-SA) in the TV fixed there.

Will the bank take responsibility for any mishaps?. What made them to have a TV at ATM and showing the programs which catches more attention from the public. This is really absurd.

Is fixing TVs at the ATM centres really a necessary one?. Already Bangalore facing a lot of robbery cases and this is really a threat for the people withdrawing cash there. Bank may claim that they do provide a security person there. Is he a movie-hero?.

Its really a very bad idea to have TV and telecasting a match or movie in a places like ATM.

Make hay while the sun shines

The real estate people in Bangalore are very much inline with this proverb. As the IT hub lives to its name and money flow has increased, the real estate people uses this time to pocket money from it.

The land value in hsr layout was so high and did it really vindicate the worth for it. In the recent heavy downpour, this particular layout was nearly inundated and people suffered a lot. Is this for what people paid a lot?.

Will this affect the land value?. What if the IT suffers a downfall again?. Only time can answer these questions.

IT es work

India, now emerging as the key player in the field of IT enabled services has grown exponentially in this field. This field contributes a lot to the Indian GDP. It increased the employment but does it provides an individual to have a stress-free work environment?. This is the question struck on my mind during my recent visit to one of call centres.

I feel it really very difficult to work in those environment where you need to change your body clock every month or so to cope up with the shift timings you work for. This really affects a person mentally as he may have some sleepless nights. This will definitely affects the individuals both physically and mentally.

People in the higher management, should come up with a corrective measure for these problems.

Global Warming or global warning

Recently the world faced heavy downpours which resulted in human loss. The article explains the reason behind this heavy abnormal rainfalls.

Nowadays most countries started talking about the Global warming and it should be stopped only on papers. We need to take proper measures in order to put a break for the raise in the global temperature.

Once the greenhouse effect provides greater help for the human life in the Earth and if there is any slothfulness in the process to reduce the global warming will result in the worst.

Night out @ chennai central

I had a very bad experience with the largest employer in the world, Indian Railways. I happened to travel in train on Oct 12th night when there was a downpour (not a heavy) in chennai which resulted in water logging at train yard. (Central Railway Station)

The customer service by Railways was very pathetic. No one was there to give you a clear picture what was happening and there was no proper seating arrangements done to accomodate people who got stuck as most of the night trains were delayed. No announcement made to keep in people informed and everyone was getting restless since the next day is a working day.

Still India needs to improve a lot in the recovery project, as it took nearly 2:30 hours for them to regularise the normal train activity.

New meaning for Bangalored ?

The incident of RPF assaulting a IT employee came as a stunning news for everyone in the IT city of India. The city already facing a steep increase in the number of robbery and theft cases now becoming very hostile to live.

Is the social-economic imbalance in this city paves way for these kind of activities. Wondering what will stop this?.

Bangalored now means different for me ..

Flexi-timings

Flexi-timings, gaining more and more attention nowadays not only because it makes people to work with great efficiency but also makes people to reach office stress-free.

As the concept of work from home is still not in practice in India, flexi-timing may help people to work better and also it may help in reducing the traffic congestion atleast in Bangalore.

A Day-out

The boredom during the weekend made us to plan for a day-out trip this weekend. With handful of places, we decided to go to Big Banyan tree and a reservoir nearby.
We, 8 of us started @ 9:30 am in two-wheelers after a heavy breakfast, reached the Big-Banyan tree by 11:00 am. The tree was so huge as it spread across some 3-4 acres. We had a good time-pass, as monkeys there provided a good acrobatic shows. Then we started after some rest to the reservoir in manjampalli. The road was very too to challenge the riding skills of a person. On our way back to BB tree, we came across a movie shooting starring ShivRajkumar. Then we landed on a resort and we spent 2 hours in swimming pool and started off to Bangalore.

Black-out Bangalore

As we know, Bangalore - one among the fast growing city in the World of IT. The cosmopolitan nature of this city makes it more attractive. But in the recent past and now, the city is being blacked-out more often, the reason is its raining heavily during nights. For the past one week, the city received a heavy downpour which upshots the powercut. The powercut lasts for hours duly affecting the normal life.

A hot day- out

It was a long time we went for a trip and hence we decided to go for Thiruvannamalai and Gingee fort on 21st of May, 2005.

The day started wonderfully as we started @ 7 am in the morning towards thiruvannamalai. We reached a town called oothankarai at 9 am. We landed at Shankar cafe after a long search(25 mins) for a pure veg restaurant. The food was excellent and we saddled up for the journey again.

The temple @ t'malai was really a massive construction with 3 parakarams and 9 gopurams. As we got out of the taxi with our bare foots we jumped as if we landed on a tandoor grate. Literally we ran into the temple. We had a good dharsan of Lord Arunachaleswarar and Unnamulai. The temperature there would be easily touching 40-42* C. The shopkeeper who sells lime soda had a good business with us.

We started for Gingee fort as the temples we enquired will be closed between 12:30 p.m - 4:00 p.m.

At Gingee, there are two forts and the localites call them Raja Fort and Rani fort. We decided to visit Raja fort first then to Rani fort. The parking lot keeper grinned at us sarcastically. We really felt sorry for choosing this as one of the place of visit. Its really really hot.. machi. All of us dehydrated before we reach the hilltop. It took nearly 2 hours for us to reach there. The fort was ruined mostly but it shows the architectural stature they had gained during those periods.

After Gingee, we visited "MelMalayanoor" amman temple and started back to Bangalore.

Is this extravagant spending ?

One of our badminton friend work with a reputed garment company and he informed us about the stock clearance discount sale last week on Sat and Sunday.

Myself with my roommates planned to have a visit there. The sale was organised in the parking lot of the garment office. It was much crowded and we rushed for the garments of our size and grabbed which we liked most. I could see people running literally to get the best as early as possible. As the garments displayed were of international brand I could see people rushing in, which I realized later.I couldn't believe that we spent around 11K for the garments there. I could see people purchasing about 7-8 garments on average, spending around 5K.

Wondering whether the Indians are moving out of their savings mentality?

Magi's house warming ceremony

We(Anand, Sudha and Myself) decided to have a get-together as part of the Magi's house warming ceremony and hence we landed on Saturday(23rd April, 2005) the next day of the ceremony.
I started by 8 in the morning and reached Hosur by 8:40. Boarded the bus to Vellore from there by 9:30 and reached vellore by 1:15 pm. Magi came to the bus stop in his new scooty pep for the pickup. From then, the fun starts.

Once magi and sudha came back, we started for lunch but landed up in a bar(A/C). Then the booze starts. Magi and Ananth starts off with Beer. Myself settled with Fanta and Sudha some side-dishes.(hmm.. sudha is in terrific diet). Afterthat we went to the Vellore fort and roamed there. Interested in a boat ride, we went for it. Returned back to the new house, had a fresh showers and went to Magi's house for Dinner.

The next day nothing much interesting as we started off by 11 am for the breakfast at Magi's house followed by booze at the same A/C bar. And its time to say goodbye and we boarded the bus to their respective places.

A trip to Bannerghatta Biological Park

The plan for the long weekend started with a trip to Ooty. But when people started to withdraw from the availability, the group reduces to 2 persons (Raja(Oracle Colleague) and myself). Since we made up our mind for a trip, we desperately wanted to go and finally decided on Bannerghatta Park . We decided to go on Friday, 25th March.

We started at 9:50 am after a heavy breakfast and it took nearly 30 mins to reach Bannerghatta. The road to BBP(Bannerghatta Biological park-renamed recently) was really amazing and I heard that Nasa people has conducted the testing for the landing of Pathfinder in this road. Really a good choice. But one thing, while riding in that road please do enjoy the ride and don't ever talk to ur pillion rider.. otherwise you will end up in eating sands and stones.

We reached there by 10:25 am and luckily we got into the grand safari(combination of lion&tiger safari, deer safari and bear safari) bus within 10 mins since it wasn't much crowded. The trip started by 10:35. The safari was good and the only difference between zoo and this park is, in zoo you have animals in the cage and here it's you who will be in the caged vehicle and animals are free to roam in a restricted area.

The place was really dry and we were wondering how animals like deer survive. We saw Lion, lioness, tiger, bear, spotted dear, samba deer, bisons and the famous white tiger and all the animals were really fed up in the hot and always keen to be in a shelter except the bear which was courageous enough to come close to our vehicle to see us.

The safari went for an hour and we packed up to Bangalore and reached by 2:00 pm. A nice place for a day picnic.

Kuiya's Marriage

Kuiya's marriage was the much awaited event among our friends. The reason was simple (he is in love) . The marriage was arranged at the last possible moment, a week before. He was very busy in organising the things together to make the event a successful. Know one thing, the marriage was proposed to held on a great day of the year (23rd March).. why ?... 'cos its my birthday.

Finally the day of happenings started. We started at 8:30 in the morning by a Cab arranged by Kuiya. We had breakfast near to the temple (Someshwara temple) then back to temple where the occasion has to happen. Nice to tell that this event has arranged for a get together for our University friends.

The rituals started at 10:30 am and the first thing was the holy wash of kuiya's leg (similar to ablution) by his mother-in-law. Then we entered into the temple and the ceremony started. Kuiya was really in a abuzz mood. From here the things started happening fast. Then our hero Kuiya tied the holy thread around Samyu's neck. Then comes the things like garland exchange, metti anivithal... From then our Kuiya became a Family man and we wished him a great and happy married life.

Thalai's Marriage

We decided to attend the great moment of our Thalai's life who finally got into the wedlock. The marriage was fixed on 13th Feb, a day before the Valentine's day and we were there in Erode. The first day went with no special events except our Cheena Thaana presented himself dashingly with his new Provogue shirt and Blackberry trousers. The night we friends went for the movie 'Ji' in which Ajith starred. The following morning was the Muhurtham and that was the moment our Thalai was anxiously waiting for. He tied the holy thread around his better half's neck. He now has lost his bachelor's life.

Friday Party

It was Friday (4th March) and I had a very good reason to fete the weekend mood. The reason was Magesh's birthday. This was his last birthday as a bachelor as he is entering into wedlock on June 1st. We planned for a treat and went to Inchara a nearby restaurant. It was really a nice experience to reminisce our University day with fine food.

Trekking

We had a long weekend trip to Nagarhole, where we had a safari (truck) arranged by the forest department. The trip started at 7 in the morning, and we were very much zealous in watching the animals. The journey continuous through the thick forest area (Do believe me , we couldn't see the sun). During this journey we saw deers, elephants, bisons. Unfortunately, couldn't see any tigers.

We had a very pleasant stay in a resort which itself hidden in a vast coffee estate. The place was very near to Iruppu falls (1 km). The second day we went for a trek at Brahmagiri hills and since it rained the previous day, we were much threatened by the gigantic blood suckers(leech). The 12 km trek was good and we conducted some blood donation camp(thanx to leeches). While returning we had bath in Iruppu falls(alias Lakshman theertha).

Thanks to the resort owners, who provided a very good hospitality and great food.

Aero Show 2005

Aero show 2005 (9th-13th Feb, 2005 @ B'lore) was really a good show but was little disappointing with not much manoeuvre with Sukoi-30. Advanced Light Helicopters (Dhuruv) , the home-grown and the Sea Harrier were really amazing and crowd pulling. Surya Kiran with their usual and combined aerobatics attracted the crowd.
